We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce you to a standout Ethiopian coffee from Genji Challa. Big shoutout to our friends at Manhattan Coffee Roasters for sharing this gem with us! This honey-processed beauty comes from the Telila washing station, perched at a cool 2000 masl in Kecho Anderacha, Gera, deep in the Jimma region.

These top-notch beans are handpicked from various Kebeles (local neighborhoods) around the region, and this special batch? It’s straight from the Genji Challa Kebele.

Now, let’s talk about the magic behind the beans. The Telila station, steered by the awesome Mike Mamo and his collaboration with Osito Coffee, is all about pushing boundaries. While many stations sort their lots by processing methods and where the cherries come from, Telila is upping the game. They’re also sorting by the exact day of cherry delivery. And here’s a cool twist: they’re storing parchment in hermetically sealed bags, which is pretty groundbreaking for Ethiopian coffee. And they’re not just rocking the washed lots; they’re nailing the honey, natural, and anaerobic ones too.

The cherries that roll into Telila? They’re a mix of Gibirinna 74110 and Serto 74112. These are from the Metu Bishari forest selections, handpicked by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) back in ’74 for their knack to fend off coffee berry disease.

Now, for the taste test: dive into vibrant notes of blueberry, peach, and a splash of elderflower lemonade. Whether you’re sipping on a bold espresso, a mellow filter, or snagging a bag from our shelves, we’re confident this coffee will be a hit.

Here’s to many more coffee adventures with you at Ovride Specialty Coffee! Cheers!
