About this coffee
Located in the Bruncaregion, at the foot of Chirripó — the highest peak in Costa Rica — the Corazón de Jesús farm is operated by the Alvarado Fonsecafamily, recognized for their innovation and attention to detail in coffee processing. The micromill, founded in 2015, has become a benchmark for quality in Costa Rica, and in 2024 the family took 2nd place in the Cup of Excellence.
The cherries are hand-picked and naturally dried on raised beds for 15–20 days, then rested for two months to stabilize the flavors before export. The Catuaivariety, typical of the region, offers an excellent balance of sweetness, body, and acidity.
In the cup, this coffee reveals notes of cherry, plum, and dark chocolate, a fine acidity reminiscent of red wine, and a rich, velvety body, with a lingering bittersweet aftertaste.
